Transportation has always played an essential role in the development of society, originally with regard to trade routes and harbours, but more recently with regard to land- and air-based systems as well.

Environmental engineering technology is the application of engineering principles and interdisciplinary environmental sciences to address challenges associated with human impacts on the environment. This field characterizes the dynamic relationship between human activity and the environment to determine strategies to minimize negative impacts

Water resources engineering is the quantitative study of the hydrologic cycle -- the distribution and circulation of water linking the earth's atmosphere, land and oceans.
WHY B.Sc in Civil Engineering at UIU

The Civil Engineering department offers state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. The laboratory infrastructure varies greatly based on both undergraduate curriculum as well as advanced research.
The department has already established six fully functional laboratories namely Strength of Material(SM) Lab, Hydraulics Lab, Engineering Materials Lab, Surveying Lab, Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) Lab and Drafting Studio. In addition, Transportation and Traffic Engineering Lab, Geo-Technical Engineering Lab, Environmental Engineering Lab and GIS and Remote Sensing Lab are under the process of development. The major labs are located in the basement covering an area of 5,000 sq. ft.
