Nafisa Tabassum is working as a lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering in United International University. She joined the Department of Civil Engineering as a lecturer on March 01, 2021.

Formerly she had worked as a lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering in Stamford University Bangladesh (January 2019 to February 2021).

She completed her B.Sc. in Civil Engineering (Major: Structural Engineering, Minor: Transportation Engineering) with honors from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in October 22, 2018. Currently she is doing her M.Sc. in Civil Engineering (Transportation Engineering) in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

After completing her B.Sc., she was involved with a project as a research assistant in BUET named “Building Code Implementation and Enforcement Strategy” which helped her to get acquainted with the practical field of engineering.

Her undergraduate thesis focused on the behavior of built-up steel-concrete composite section. The thesis work had three main dimensions: relationship of different material properties and loading type with strength, validation of numerical modelling using Abaqus with experimental program and finding reliability of different existing codes (AISC code and EUROCODE) to predict strength values for built-up composite sections. She has published a conference paper on this topic which was awarded as the best paper in Structural Engineering division. During MSc. she is focusing on transportation engineering related topics.

Her teaching expertise mainly includes subjects related to structural engineering, eg. Engineering Mechanics, Prestressed Concrete, Concrete Structures Design Sessional, Structural Analysis and Design etc.
